<title>The Influence of Simulations and Virtual Laboratories on Practical Skills Acquisition among TVET Trainees in Kenya</title>

<description>The Influence of Simulations and Virtual Laboratories on Practical Skills Acquisition among TVET Trainees in Kenya
Chola, Raphael; Wanami, Simon
The acquisition of practical skills remains a significant challenge in Technical and Vocational Education and&#13;
Training (TVET) institutions in Kenya due to limited access to physical laboratories and equipment. This study&#13;
examined the influence of simulations and virtual laboratories on practical skills acquisition among TVET trainees&#13;
in Kenya. Using a secondary data methodology, the study reviewed recent empirical research and reports from&#13;
global, developed, middle-income, and developing countries to understand how virtual learning tools impacted&#13;
practical skill development. The findings revealed that simulations and virtual laboratories enhanced learner&#13;
engagement, provided safe and repeatable practice opportunities, and improved technical competencies. In&#13;
developed countries, high-fidelity simulations were integrated effectively into curricula, resulting in measurable&#13;
skill gains. Middle-income countries demonstrated improvements despite infrastructural challenges, while&#13;
developing countries including Kenya showed promising outcomes where virtual tools compensated for limited&#13;
physical resources. However, the study found that challenges such as inadequate digital infrastructure and low&#13;
digital literacy among instructors and trainees limited the full potential of these technologies. The study concluded&#13;
that while simulations and virtual laboratories positively influenced practical skills acquisition, their effectiveness&#13;
depended on contextual factors including infrastructure and training. Recommendations included the need for&#13;
investment in digital infrastructure, capacity building, curriculum integration, supportive policies, and further&#13;
research to enhance virtual learning adoption in TVET. This study contributes to the knowledge on how virtual&#13;
technologies can support vocational education and provides a foundation for scaling their use in Kenya and&#13;
neighboring countries.

<title>Importance of Training and Development in TVET Institutions</title>
<link>http://41.89.164.27:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/2412</link>
<description>Importance of Training and Development in TVET Institutions
Chola, Raphael; Kiplagat, Hoseah
This study examines the critical role of training and development in institutions, focusing on employee&#13;
performance, organizational growth, and overall employee happiness. In today's fast changing professional scene,&#13;
effective training programs are critical for providing employees with the skills and information required to adapt to&#13;
new challenges and breakthroughs. The article investigates the numerous ways in which training initiatives improve&#13;
employee productivity and efficiency, resulting in organizational success. It also emphasizes the need of continual&#13;
development opportunities in cultivating a motivated and engaged staff, which leads to increased retention rates and&#13;
greater job satisfaction. The study examines recent research and literature on the subject, including an overview of&#13;
significant studies and findings that demonstrate the benefits of well-structured training programs. Methodologies&#13;
such as needs assessments, training evaluation models, and skills gap analysis are presented to help institutions&#13;
construct effective development plans. Furthermore, the paper investigates how different companies and sectors&#13;
have implemented training programs with differing degrees of success, highlighting excellent practices and areas&#13;
for development. Also, the paper summarizes the findings of several research, providing evidence-based insights on&#13;
the efficacy of training and development programs. The conclusion provides concrete advice for institutions&#13;
seeking to improve their training and development strategies, emphasizing the need of personalized programs that&#13;
target unique organizational needs and employee aspirations. Institutions that invest in training and development&#13;
can foster a culture of continual learning, which fosters both individual and organizational achievement.
